It gives me great pleasure to announce that Forest View Elementary has been awarded a National Distinguished School Award for exceptional student performance for two or more years. This award is a very prestigious award and an honor for our school community. We are one of only two schools in Michigan receiving this honor. The award signifies the hard work and efforts of students, parents and staff. Your continued high expectations, commitment to excellence and passion are to be commended. Student success and achievement at this level is not possible without everyone working together. Our focus on continuous improvement, relationships, and support for all students play a key role in our success. As a school community, we are committed to being responsible and accountable for the success of each student. It continues to be my honor to lead students, families and staff that support and value a love of learning. Thank you for your commitment. to excellence!

Forest View PTO Fall 2016 Newsletter
Well another school year has begun! Welcome back to the 2016-2017 school year. If you are looking to get involved at school, volunteering is a great way. PTO volunteers support the education of our children and support Forest View by fostering relationships between the school, parents, teachers and all staff.
In the past, PTO has helped fund assemblies, AR reading program, Kids on the Go, on-line learning tools, Center Lake field trip at the end of the year and many more!! Currently we are saving to purchase new playground equipment!
In order for PTO to be successful, we rely on our volunteers and parents. It is about donating your creativity and a little bit of time assisting with the various events held throughout the school year. Your help contributes to PTO’s success. We understand that everyone cannot be involved in every activity, but we want you to remember that every little bit helps!
There are always ways to offer support and to help make each year as successful and fun for the children as we can. Donating a few hours of your time for an event, attending PTO meetings once a month and clipping box tops are just to name a few.
To keep you informed, look for the PTO newsletter on the Forest View website, CAPS Forest View PTO on Facebook, email notifications and send home information sheets. We also hold a monthly meeting to discuss school affairs, discuss the PTO budget and our upcoming sponsored events. Meetings are a great way to keep informed about what is happening at school.
Your PTO board looks forward to another successful year! If you have any questions please feel free to ask a member! Many hands make for light and successful work!

ALL VISITORS NEED TO SIGN IN AT THE OFFICE AND GET A VISITOR STICKER BEFORE PROCEEDING DOWN THE HALLWAY.
To improve school security CAPS is adopting a procedure that will require all parents/grandparents/guardians of Cadillac Area Public Schools students who wish to volunteer at school or visit their child at lunch times during school hours to complete a parent volunteer information sheet, that will be kept on file. Please ask the school for the appropriate volunteer information sheet, or check out he information rack outside the office door.
With the goal of increased security, Cadillac Area Public Schools will institute a verified entry system at all CAPS school buildings during school hours. Visitors at Cadillac Area Public School Buildings are asked to “request entry” through a “security buzzer” entry system. Similar to a doorbell, the buzzer is located at the main entrance of each building and visitors will be asked to verify their identity and purpose of their visit prior to being admitted to the building. Here at Forest View Elementary you will find the button to request entry to the right of the main entry doors. Please press the button and wait a moment. If we have not responded in 2 minutes, please press the button again as our Administrative Assistant may have missed your call.
After entering the building, you will be required to sign in at the office and wear a visitors badge while on the premises. You are asked to sign out prior to leaving the building. The purpose of the verified entry system is to better monitor visitors in our buildings during school hours at Cadillac Area Public Schools. Thank you for your cooperation as we all become familiar with the new entry procedure. Patience and feedback is requested as we institute this safety measure. It is a program that has been successfully used in schools across the country and one additional step to monitoring guests in our buildings as a safety measure for our staff and students. Your child’s safe learning environment is one of our highest priorities. Thank you for your support and understanding.
Forest View Elementary will see some additional changes regarding increased security. The same procedure for admittance will be used for CAPS Clubhouse before and after school. We encourage dropping students off in the parent loop and allowing them to walk in on their own. The front doors will be locked throughout the school hours and dismissal. If you need to pick up your child/children unexpectedly after school please call the office and we will get your child a note. All car riders will be dismissed from the side gym door. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but rest assured, it is in the best interest of your child/children.
